Pumpkins and Pigs!

Pumpkin Patch!

My wife and I drove from San Jose to Half Moon Bay this weekend to search for pumpkins to decorate our loft.  As we descended from the Santa Cruz Mountains and entered the valley below, we came upon a huge field filled with pumpkins.  Fortunately we got there early and missed most of the traffic.  I grabbed a wheelbarrow at the edge of the field and we quickly traversed the valley floor in search of the perfect pumpkin.  We wandered around for about an hour, and ended up with 3 very large, 3 medium, and several small pumpkins.  I don’t really know why we had so much fun, but we did.

Separated at birth?

The weather was perfect for the event:  overcast and very cool.  As a huge bonus, the owners of the farm had set up a mini petting zoo near the entrance for the kids, filled with ducks, geese, rabbits, goats, and pigs.  PIGS!!!!!  No, I don’t have kids, but for $3, I wasn’t going to pass up the opportunity to hold a little piggy!  I think I was the only adult in the petting zoo, but who cares?!  Yes, you can take the boy out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the boy!
